While listening to a sermon last night, John Piper said one of the best ways to cultivate a passion for missions is reading missionary biographies. Well wouldn't you know it, Matt & I are currently reading Mission To The Headhunters by Frank & Marie Drown, recommended to us by a local pastor.
Only a few chapters in, it is evident that preparing for missions, is very difficult work, but it is worth it. Training not just in survival skills, but also theology so when the missionaries actually get the blessed opportunity to bring the gospel to an area a church can be rooted in the truth of who God really is.
To know God, and His Word extremely well is a mandate on any missionary that desires to bring God glory. This book has given us a thirst to know God better and to dive into the Scriptures. We highly recommend you read a missionary biography sometime this year to stir your heart towards missions and God's glory.
